Arsenal have been linked with a move for a quality striker this summer.

Gabriel Jesus was quite underwhelming for them last season and he scored four goals in the league. Naturally, there was speculation that Arsenal could look to find a reliable finisher this summer.

However, a report from Football Insider claims that they have now abandoned their plans of investing in a new number nine this month.

Eddie Nketiah has been linked with a move away from Arsenal and the 25-year-old needs to move on and search of regular playing time. Even if he leaves the club, Arsenal do not plan to sign a striker this month. They are prepared to rely on Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard as their central options for the upcoming months.

It will be interesting to see if their decision proves to be the right one in the long term.

Kai Havertz celebrates scoring the opening goal of the English Premier League football match between Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium in London on August 17, 2024.

Can Arsenal afford to not sign a striker?

Arsenal have been linked with players like Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres this summer. Both players would have been exceptional acquisitions for the club and they could have transformed the Gunners in the attack.

Arsenal will be hoping to challenge for the league title and they need top quality players in order to beat Manchester City to the domestic crown. A reliable finisher could have made a huge difference for them in the final third. It will be interesting to see if the likes of Jesus and Havertz can score goals consistently and get their side across the line.

Arsenal have missed out on the league title in the last two seasons and they will be desperate to go all the way this time around. There is no doubt that they have a quality squad at the disposal and the players will have to step up and deliver.
