When Marc Bernal picked up an injury early on in the campaign, many had presumed Barcelona would lose out on the progress of a generational midfield talent.

However, his replacement Marc Casado has elevated things to a whole new level and is fast emerging as one of the most promising midfield prodigies in world football.

As we approach the last two months of 2024, Casado has picked up five assists, three of which have come in the last three matches.

The youngster has built a formidable combination with Pedri at the heart of Hansi Flick’s system and everything suggests he will continue to play a key role for Barcelona going forward.

Casado’s release clause at Barcelona

Barcelona, though, may have some work cut out when it comes to safeguarding the future of their latest La Masia sensation.

That is because Casado has a release clause in his contract, which can be affordable for many clubs in Europe.

According to SPORT, the value of the release clause present in Casado’s contract stands at around €100 million.

Although still quite significant, it falls considerably behind the release clauses of other La Masia stars such as Gavi, Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal, all of who have €1 billion exit clause.

One step below, Fermin Lopez, who has recently signed an extension, as well as Pau Cubarsi and Marc Bernal, have release clauses worth €500 million.

Casado, in that regard, has a considerably lower release clause and as such, Barcelona’s main task will be to tie the young midfielder down to a new contract, which would invariably increase the value of the exit clause.

More so, considering the fact that Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United have taken an interest in the 21-year-old ace.

Reports suggest the Catalans are already working on the renewal of Casado and something positive may come out soon.
