Ricky Starks has reportedly not signed a new deal with AEW, and he is expected to go to WWE.
Starks has been with AEW since 2020. At times, he has been a featured member of the roster. He has held the AEW World Tag Team Championship, and he has faced some of the promotion’s top stars. However, he has not appeared on AEW programming since the March 30 episode of AEW Collision. He has dismissed rumors that he has been injured, and he has said that his absence is out of his hands.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Ricky Starks had not signed a new deal with AEW. He noted that Starks turned down an angle with Big Bill. Meltzer also stated that Starks is very much expected to go to WWE when his AEW deal is up.
Starks has been linked to WWE for some time, as he is good friends with Cody Rhodes. There is no word on when Starks’ deal is up, as he has played it close to the vest.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
Tony Khan On Ricky Starks
Amid Starks’ absence, Tony Khan was asked about the former FTW Champion. In May, Khan spoke with CBS Sports‘ Shakiel Mahjouri. When asked about Starks, he spoke highly of Starks and said he would love to get him involved again. Khan also spoke highly of him.
“I really like Ricky Starks a lot,” he said. “The last time we saw him here was in the World Tag Team Championship tournament. He and Big Bill formed a great team, and they were the World Tag Team Champions. They had a great run…”
I think Ricky Starks is tremendous, I’d love to get him involved and back in AEW anytime. He’s been a huge part of what we’ve done here for about four out of the five years, and tons of respect for Rico.”
