Report: Update On ‘Coming Soon’ Vignette On WWE SmackDown

A new report provides an update on the “Coming Soon” vignette that aired on the October 5 episode of WWE SmackDown.

A brief “Coming Soon” vignette played on the October 4 episode of WWE SmackDown and sparked plenty of buzz. The video included multiple nods to Detroit. This led many fans to assume that it was teasing the arrival of The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin). The former TNA stars have reportedly signed with the company.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that the vignette on WWE SmackDown in fact for the Motor City Machine Guns. Per Sapp, a source clarified that they had never heard of Shelley and Sabin being discussed for the NXT brand, which had been rumored. This source said that the duo had been planned for SmackDown for quite some time.

Sabin and Shelley wrapped up with TNA in March and continued to wrestle on the independent scene. They have held tag team titles around the wrestling world for several companies, including ROH, NJPW, and GCW. Sabin and Shelley are two of the most decorated stars in TNA history. They are three-time TNA World Tag Team Champions. Sabin is a 10-time X-Division Champion, and Shelley has won the title as well. Both men are former TNA World Champions as well.
