Vince McMahon reportedly signed NDAs without WWE’s knowledge, and he was even said to have done so on the company’s behalf.

On January 25, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, in which she alleged that McMahon and Laurinaitis engaged in sexual assault and sex trafficking of her, among other offenses. Though a spokesperson for McMahon said the lawsuit was replete with lies, he resigned from WWE and TKO.

Tim Marchman of VICE reports that, per a person familiar with the situation, Vince McMahon drafted NDAs without WWE’s knowledge, and they were signed in secret as well. The report notes that McMahon even signed the agreements on the company’s behalf. Marchman writes that WWE not knowing about the NDA is why the company had to issue revised earnings statements when they learned about the hush money payments last year.

The report also notes that the NDA at the center of Janel Grant’s lawsuit may be unenforceable, as she claims that McMahon did not pay her all of the agreed-upon hush money. If that were the chase, the contract would likely be voided. It’s possible that the same could be true of other NDAs if similar language was used. Marchman writes that, in talking with legal experts, the NDA are likely unenforceable, as McMahon did not pay the full $3 million the contract stipulated.

This report comes after the Wall Street Journal wrote that Vince McMahon is under federal investigation for the allegations Grant made in her lawsuit.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
