Don’t get too used to watching three-hour episodes of WWE SmackDown.
On Thursday, WrestleVotes (via WrestleVotes Radio on Patreon) reported SmackDown would expand to a three-hour format in January 2025. This move would coincide with RAW’s move over to Netflix.
Now, WrestleVotes has provided more details on plans for SmackDown, sharing that the third hour is planned to be temporary. According to the outlet, the “chatter” in WWE is that SmackDown will be three hours long until June 2025, when it will go back to a two-hour show.
WWE SmackDown has been a two-hour show since its inception. WWE has not confirmed any changes to SmackDown’s format. However, RAW will return to a two-hour format, albeit briefly.
WWE RAW will be a two-hour show beginning on October 7. This format will last until the show moves to Netflix in January, when it will revert to a three-hour show.
More changes to SmackDown
SmackDown debuted a new logo for last week’s USA Network premiere. SmackDown also got a new theme song in the form of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Neva Play”, featuring RM of BTS.
Many WWE legends were in attendance to celebrate the show’s USA Network premiere. Vickie Guerrero and Rob Van Dam were shown sitting ringside while others, such as World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser, William Regal and Bobby Roode, were spotted on-screen.
