WWE sources say that Randy Orton has signed a long-time deal, according to a new report.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, per WWE sources, Randy Orton re-signed with WWE. The word internally is that Orton agreed to a five-year deal. This would keep him under contract until late 2029. Per Sapp, WWE and Randy Orton did not directly confirm the news.
Sapp writes that, when asked, one WWE higher-up noted that the guaranteed money associated with contracts is much different now than it was in 2019. This source did not confirm Orton’s signing. However, they explained that changes to WWE’s “live event schedule, touring, international dates, media obligations, merchandise and social media” make it more fair to agree to a new deal rather than extending the previous agreement.
The report notes that Randy Orton previously signed a five-year deal in 2019 that was set to expire late in 2024. Orton missed over a year due to injury. He was absent from late May 2022 until he returned at WWE Survivor Series 2023.
Orton, a 14-time world champion, is set to challenge Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Bash in Berlin.
WWE announced that Randy Orton will appear on the August 12 episode of WWE RAW. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
