Barcelona have a lot of tough decisions to take this summer as they will look to complete what is hopefully the last stage of their team rebuild.
After signing several important players in the summer of 2023, including Ilkay Gundogan and Joao Cancelo, Barcelona now need to fill gaps in a couple of positions before they can confidently compete with the best of the best in Europe.
The pivot position, for example, is a huge concern. Oriol Romeu has not been able to fill in Sergio Busquets’ huge boots, and the club need to find a solution to their trouble immediately.
Similarly, the left-wing slot is a slightly problematic. Joao Felix, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, Pedri, and even Vitor Roque have all filled in as left-wingers this season, but not successfully enough.
It was, after all, seemed custom-made for a certain Ansu Fati to take over in the long-term. Things have not gone well enough for the player in recent times, though.
End of Fati’s tenure at Barcelona?
Fati’s breakthrough at Barcelona was sensational under Ernesto Valverde, and he was expected to be the next big thing in world football.
Unfortunately, a series of injuries forced him to move to Brighton & Hove Albion for game-time, which has not gone particularly well, either. All signs point to him returning to Barcelona at the end of the season, but what happens from there?
Everything seemed to go downhill for Ansu since his 4-month long knee injury. Now, reliable journalist Adrian Sanchez revealed to Barça Universal that the Catalans will ideally look for a new loan move for Fati in the summer. That is the priority.
However, should a solid offer come in ahead of or during the transfer window, Barcelona could be convinced to sell him.
Premier League teams have been cited with an interest in the Spaniard over the years, and Barcelona could be looking to pocket at least €30-40 million from his sale, as per previous reports.
De Zerbi confident about Fati
Reports have claimed that Barcelona want to extend Fati’s loan in the Premier League as they deal with their financial hardships.
While the player has not done particularly well at Brighton, coach Roberto De Zerbi seems a fan of the player.
It has also been said that should the Italian manager take over Barcelona next season, as he has been linked strongly with, Fati could get retain his spot in the roster.
