Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho enjoyed a successful season with his club and country.

With the Red Devils, he managed to win the FA Cup by beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final.

With his country, he won the Copa America this summer, completing a successful summer for himself and his teams.

It could have been different for the young winger if he had decided to play for Spain instead of Argentina.

The youngster could have won the Euro 2024 if he had taken the option of playing for Spain.

Garnacho has revealed the reason behind him choosing to play for Argentina and it makes sense why he decided that.

In 2023, Garancho gave an explanation to TyC Sports, as reported by the Daily Mail:

“I am Argentinian. All of my mother’s family is Argentinian, they’ve always lived there. And my father’s is from Spain.

“The way things worked out, my mother’s family moved to Spain and she met my father there and I was born there. I’m really close with my mother’s side of the family, we’ve always supported the national team since I was little.

“I didn’t have to think twice because I feel Argentinian, I am Argentinian. They put their faith in me and it was clear to me. It’s a great team, it’s a great opportunity and the whole family are really happy and have supported me from minute one.”

Man United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has had a successful season with both club and country.

The 20-year-old was born in Madrid but due to him being close to his mother, he decided to play for Argentina.

The pacey winger was involved in eleven goals in the Premier League last season, scoring seven goals and assisting four.

He played on the right-wing as well as the left-wing for United last season, showing his versatility and ability to perform on both the flanks.

Alejandro Garnacho has had a rapid growth at Old Trafford

The attacker’s development under manager Erik ten Hag has been brilliant and his current progress has made it clear that he is on his way to become one of the best players in the world in his position.

He is repaying the faith shown in him by the United management and the fans will be hoping to see him at Old Trafford for a very long time.

His Argentina team will meet the Spain team in 2025 when they will come up against each other in the Finalissima, which is played between the winners of the Euros and the Copa America.
