Rey Mysterio isn’t a fan of Dominik Mysterio‘s mustache either.
WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio recently spoke to Peter Rosenberg at ComplexCon. When asked if he thought it was too soon when his son Dominik decided to break off on his own in the company, Rey admitted at the time he did, but he was wrong.
“Maybe I would have thought at the time that it was a little too soon, but I was completely wrong,” Rey Mysterio admitted. “Look at him now, look at all the success he’s gained. Look at the confidence booster that he has, just overall his growth.
“As a father and as one of his fans, I enjoy watching him in the ring every time. And you have no idea this feeling of gratitude and that I’m his dad. That’s how I feel, because it’s a normal reaction, you know? I’m proud of him, I love him, and I enjoy the work that he’s accomplishing.”
When asked if the WWE Universe’s hatred of Dominik revolves around him being the son of a Hall of Famer, Rey thinks it might have been at one point, but now it’s all about the mustache.
“It was definitely a triggering point at a certain part of his career or his turn, but then after that, I think now it’s mainly based on the mustache,” Rey Mysterio said. “I think the mustache is really what the fans hate. I mean, I hate it. It’s gotta be the mustache. Not so much the hatred that he has on his father. It’s the mustache.”
