In what has been an intensely scrutinized week for FC Barcelona, the club’s president, Joan Laporta, has found himself at the center of another controversy.

This time, the issue stems from his behaviour during the semi-final match at King Abdoullah Stadium in Jeddah, where Barcelona secured their spot in the Spanish Super Cup final.

It was there that Laporta made a public statement of sorts, dedicating a sleeve cut to his critics following the Higher Sports Council’s decision to allow players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor to be registered again by the club.

The incident was captured by Televisió de Catalunya’s cameras, showing Laporta in a visibly agitated state in the VIP area of the Saudi stadium.

RFEF considering action against Laporta

According to Diario SPORT, his actions have reportedly not sat well with the RFEF, which is now considering opening disciplinary proceedings against him.

The Federation, under the new leadership of Rafael Louzan, has been cautious in its public statements regarding the registration of Olmo and Víctor but has not shied away from addressing Laporta’s conduct.

Laporta’s actions were interpreted by many as a direct response to the criticisms and challenges he has faced, particularly in light of the registration issues surrounding two of his key players.

His determination to defend the rights of Olmo and Victor paid off, enabling them to play in the upcoming Super Cup final.

However, this victory on the pitch might come with off-field consequences as the RFEF deliberates on the appropriateness of Laporta’s behaviour during the match.

Laporta, for his part, is unlikely to be fazed by any disciplinary actions and is likely to continue the fight against the authorities.
