Last night was a historic night for wrestling fans as WWE premiered it’s first episode of Monday Night Raw last night live on Netflix! The Women’s World Title match was the only women’s match on the card last night so let’s dive in.
Women’s World Championship Match: Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley
The match kicked off at a furious pace, with Ripley using her size and strength advantage to pummel Morgan straight out to the floor. Wasting no time, Ripley launched Morgan over the announcers’ table with authority, sending a clear message: she came to reclaim her throne. Cue the commercial break, leaving the crowd buzzing.
Back from the break, Morgan showed her resilience, fighting back with relentless stomps to Ripley in the corner. Ripley, ever the powerhouse, shrugged it off and hoisted Morgan into the air, delivering a brutal half-and-half suplex for a near fall. Morgan, however, stayed scrappy, countering with a slick Backstabber that shifted the momentum in her favor.
The pendulum swung once again as Ripley connected with Riptide, but Morgan shocked the crowd by kicking out at two. Enter Dominik Mysterio, whose distraction provided Morgan the opportunity to hit Oblivion onto a strategically placed steel chair. The crowd roared as Ripley barely escaped defeat with a last-second kickout.
Morgan channeled her inner Guerrero, stringing together the Three Amigos suplexes before hitting a spectacular frog splash for another near fall. Ripley, refusing to stay down, countered a second Oblivion attempt and unleashed back-to-back Riptides to put Morgan down for good.
Winner and NEW Women’s World Champion: Rhea Ripley
Congratulations to Rhea Ripley, she won the title last night in decisive fashion and Triple H booked one of WWE’s most well-known legends to give Ripley the nod. A career highlight for Mami I’m sure. Otherwise not much else for the women last night aside from a few cameos throughout the show. This seems like a decisive end for Liv’s reign as well, there wasn’t a post-match angle alluding to this feud continuing. Liv should be extremely proud of herself for a successful reign that propelled her to the upper echelons of the women’s division. Her reign ended while Liv is still at the top of her game which is exactly how you’d like to end a successful run on top.
Lastly, no returns last night from Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair nor Alexa Bliss despite the heavy rumors. Sound off what you thought of the Raw Netflix Premiere in the comments below!
