Rika Tatsumi will challenge Mizuki for the Princess of Princess Championship at TJPW Grand Princess ’25 this March.
Mizuki recently won the Princess of Princess Championship from Miu Watanabe at TJPW’s Ittenyon Show in Korakuen Hall. This marked Mizuki’s second reign as TJPW’s top champion.
A week later on January 11th, TJPW held a battle royal to determine Mizuki’s first challenger. It featured six of TJPW’s top competitors in Shoko Nakajima, Yuki Aino, Pom Harajuku, Rika Tatsumi, Arisu Endo, and Hyper Misao. However, after a tough battle, it was Rika Tatsumi who came out victorious as the last woman standing.
After the match, Rika Tatsumi spoke to the backstage press to address the upcoming championship match. She said that she looked forward to facing Mizuki for the first time one-on-one, and that she wishes to win back the Princess of Princess Championship.
TJPW then made the match official on DDT’s website. The title match between Rika and Mizuki will take place at TJPW’s first major event of the year, Grand Princess ’25, on Sunday, March 16. Despite both women being two of TJPW’s most decorated competitors, Rika Tatsumi and Mizuki have never competed against one another in singles action. Their upcoming Princess of Princess Championship bout will be their first singles encounter.
Rika Tatsumi, however, is not new to competing for and winning championship gold. As of the time of writing, she is one of only two grand slam champions in TJPW. She previously held the Princess of Princess Championship back in 2021, winning the belt from Yuka Sakazaki before losing it to Miyu Yamashita after two successful defenses.
