Andrew Scott plays grifter Tom Ripley in the new Netflix limited series Ripley, which is set to premiere on April 4. The new trailer, which you can view in the video above, shows the extent that Ripley will go through to get the job done.
Based on Patricia Highsmith’s bestselling Tom Ripley novels, Scott portrays the titular character, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York. Ripley is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home. Ripley’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder.
Ripley also stars Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood and Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf. The cast also includes Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy and John Malkovich.
The eight-episode limited series directed and written by Steven Zaillian was originally set as Showtime but moved to Netflix ahead of the addition of the premium cable network to Paramount+.
Ripley is co-produced by Showtime and Endemol Shine North America in association with Entertainment 360 and Filmrights. Executive producers are Steven Zaillian, Garrett Basch, Clayton Townsend, Guymon Casady (Entertainment 360), Benjamin Forkner, Philipp Keel (Diogenes) and Sharon Levy and Charlie Corwin (Endemol Shine). Scott will serve as a producer on the series.
