In what could be a major boost for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has been ruled out of this weekend’s El Clasico with an injury, reports Melchor Ruiz.
Rodrygo sustained a hamstring injury during Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund last night.
The 23-year-old forward had to be taken off the pitch around the 85th minute and doubts were cast about his availability for the weekend’s blockbuster encounter.
Tests carried out today have confirmed that the Brazilian international has suffered a hamstring injury that is serious enough to rule him out of action against Barcelona.
The exact extent of his injury will be confirmed once he undergoes more tests and scans tomorrow.
Rodrygo’s absence will come as a boost for Barcelona as the 23-year-old forward has the knack for stepping up in big games.
Even though he has scored only three goals this season, the attacker is a key player for Carlo Ancelotti and him being unavailable will force the Real Madrid boss to alter his plans.
Apart from Rodrygo, Real Madrid will also be without key defenders Dani Carvajal and David Alaba for the Clasico.
As for Barcelona, they go into the game without Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Bernal, and Ferran Torres.
Eric Garcia, who is out of tonight’s game against Bayern Munich, could return for the trip to the Santiago Bernabeu.
