Miss Madiebo Ifunaya of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Port Harcourt has won the National Young Consumer Essay Contest organised by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
Madiebo’s entry was deemed the best of the 600 entries received by the FCCPC for this year’s essay competition with the theme, “Is AI Hurting or Helping Consumers?”
Miss Michael Chikamso of St. Bridget Girls Grammar School, Asaba emerged as first runner-up while Miss Oluwajobi Ewaogooluwa of St Theresa’s Catholic School, Abuja, emerged as second runner-up.
Madiebo was presented the star prize for the eighth edition of the NYCC at a one-day seminar to mark the 2025 World Consumer Day held in Abuja.
The seminar was attended by the FCCPC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tunji Belo, as well as participants from advocacy bodies, government agencies and academia.
The FCCPC boss noted that the contest was in engendering academic excellence and ensuring that both the young and old have adequate knowledge about the defence of the rights of consumers and fair business practices in Nigeria.
