Hyderabad: Traffic congestion on the stretch from Gachibowli to Tolichowki has reached a critical level, with commuters now taking up to an hour to cover a mere 3-kilometer distance. The situation has deteriorated to the point where road widening is being considered the only viable solution to alleviate the daily traffic gridlock.
The stretch from Kondapur Junction to Mehdipatnam has become notorious for its constant traffic jams, with vehicles crawling at a snail’s pace during most hours of the day. Despite various attempts to manage the traffic through other means, such as traffic signals, lane management, and increased policing, none have yielded significant results.
One of the key factors contributing to the congestion is the encroachment of commercial spaces, which have taken over an entire lane for parking, further narrowing the already congested roads. This has particularly worsened the traffic flow from the Tolichowki flyover to the Nanal Nagar Junction, where vehicles are often at a standstill.
Residents and daily commuters are voicing their frustrations, pointing out that the only effective solution left is road widening. Expanding the road infrastructure could provide much-needed relief from the relentless traffic snarls that plague this vital corridor of the city.
