Former WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam is currently making appearances in multiple promotions. RVD also made an appearance on the USA premiere of Friday Night SmackDown. One of the promotions that the One of a Kind star has been a part of is the Jacksonville-based promotion AEW.
Recently, RVD was a special guest on the Cheap Heat podcast with Peter Rosenberg. During the interview, Rob Van Dam revealed that he is not under a full-time contract with AEW. The former ECW World Champion mentioned that he only signs a ‘per-match’ contract with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
“So I’m not under contract with AEW. I sign a per-match contract with them, which I’ve done five, maybe six times,” RVD said. “And it’s only wrestling. The first time that I talked to Tony Khan about doing this, a factor was that I still have a WWE Legends deal. So my use to AEW would be limited — as far as, like, they can’t put me on video games, action figures, stuff like that. So you could say it’s limited on both ends — or you could say I got both ends going, best of both worlds. Or you could just say RVD does whatever he wants.” [H/T F4WOnline.com]
RVD On Not Having Much Notice
Rob Van Dam was featured on the September 13 episode of SmackDown. He detailed how his appearance came together on his 1 Of A Kind podcast and said he didn’t have much notice about the appearance. RVD was then asked how much notice he had.
“It was one day notice to fly out,” he said. “Wednesday, ‘Sorry about the short notice. You have to leave tomorrow. Are you available on Friday?’ I was.”
RVD also said that he did some interviews for some content, and other legends did as well.
“I did some interviews for some…I don’t know if it’s going to be a DVD,” he said. “I think it might be a Netflix release. I’m not really sure. We all did. We all took turns doing interviews.”
