A cattle ranch owned by a former Ogun State House of Representative member, Adesegun Adekoya, located in Ako village, Ago-Iwoye, was reportedly attacked by unidentified individuals suspected to be armed robbers.

The suspects injured at least two farmers, including a man in his 70s, all of whom sustained various machete wounds after the attack on Thursday.

The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday.

Odutola announced that a manhunt was underway to apprehend the suspects.

Odutola said, “A call was made to inform the police command about an attack that occurred at the victim’s cow ranch around 1:35pm today (Thursday). Some suspected thieves allegedly broke through the windows to gain access to the building.

“Upon breaking in, the thieves attacked the security guard, identified as Friday Ogan, causing him to sustain a deep cut on his leg.

“A 75-year-old man, identified as Adamu Idi, from Ako village, was also attacked with a machete, resulting in a deep cut on his head.

“As soon as the police were informed, they sprang into action. Upon arriving at the scene, the DPO took the victims to a nearby hospital called Love and Care Hospital for treatment.”

Odutola said that none of the cows were taken from the ranch and emphasized that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

“Investigations are ongoing, and any further developments will be communicated,” Odutola said.

A report by PUNCH Metro on July 15, 2024, detailed a similar incident when some unidentified hoodlums allegedly killed a maize farmer named Ogar Fidelis at his farm in the Odomosibi area of Ijebu-Igbo.

The victim was discovered in a critical condition, lying in a pool of blood at his rice plantation, with severe cuts to his neck and right leg. His twin brother, Kehinde, found him groaning in pain before he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
