Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has again denied rumours that Rodrygo Goes is unhappy with his lack of recognition

Is Rodrygo being overlooked at Real? The question is worth asking, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappé are playing at a different level in terms of attention. During the international break, Rodrygo gave an interview where he said he was unhappy not to have been selected in the list of nominees for the Ballon d’Or by France Football.

Ancelotti was sympathetic to his cause, saying his exclusion was an oversight. “He wasn’t given enough credit in the Ballon d’Or nominees. He deserved to be there and I understand he’s upset. Someone forgot what he did in the Champions League, scoring against City and being important. It’s a virtue that he’s a wild card, that he can play in many positions and still do it so well.“, the Italian remarked, praising his qualities.

Ancelotti vigilant

“For him, it’s a motivation that he compares himself to Vinicius or Mbappé. For me, he is just as important as them, like all the players. He didn’t tell me there was a problem.” He was also asked if there was a chance Rodrygo would get a little jealous of his two most lauded teammates.

“If that happens, I will detect it. In the dressing room, there is a very good and healthy atmosphere. There are players who will have more responsibilities, like Vinicius, Rodrygo, the young players, who are not so young anymore.”the Italian said confidently. Rodrygo has repeatedly expressed his irritation at not being considered on the same level as his teammates, criticizing a MARCA cover that presented Real Madrid with a trident of Bellingham, Mbappé and Vinicius, although Ancelotti later denied that this was true.
