Roman Reigns is set to appear on Smackdown for the first time in months.

The former WWE Universal Champion made his first appearance since WrestleMania 40 on Saturday. Roman Reigns made a shock return in the main event of Summerslam, attacking Solo Sikoa.

He interfered to attack Sikoa, challenging his claim of being the Tribal Chief. He inadvertently helped Cody Rhodes to retain his WWE Championship, before giving him a respectful nod before leaving.

This is likely to set up a match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in the near future, and the rivalry could kick off on Smackdown.

WWE have advertised Roman Reigns to appear on this week’s Friday Night Smackdown. He is one of the WWE Superstars announced to appear on the Friday, August 9th episode in the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, alongside some of their biggest stars.

Roman Reigns is one of six WWE Superstars advertised for the event. He joins Cody Rhodes, Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, Bayley and Jade Cargill at the show. However, his role on the show was not revealed.

This will be his first Smackdown appearance since before WrestleMania 40. He is expected to address the Bloodline situation, potentially leading to a match against Solo Sikoa.

Cody Rhodes Says Roman Reigns Is What WWE Fans Want

Cody Rhodes thinks Reigns’ return is exactly what fans want.

Speaking at the WWE SummerSlam Post-Show, Cody Rhodes was asked to share his thoughts on Roman Reigns returning.

“I don’t want to fill the room with positive platitude and hot air about the real ‘Tribal Chief,’ Roman Reigns returning, but without a doubt, that probably would have gone a different way. I probably wouldn’t be sitting here with the North Star of the industry had it not been for Roman Reigns. I’ve got quite a list of people who I owe one. I might owe him more than one. No love lost, that’s as much a shoot as it gets.

“We haven’t seen or spoken since WrestleMania. I think the WWE fans, wrestling fans, WWE Universe, they wanted him, and SummerSlam delivered and gave him, and that I’m always very happy about.”
