Roman Reigns Breaks Silence After The Passing of His Father Sika Anoa’i

The wrestling world is mourning the loss of a true legend, Sika Anoa’i of the Wild Samoans, who passed away peacefully on June 25th at the age of 79. Sika’s nephew, Jahrus Anoa’i, announced the sad news, highlighting Sika’s enduring legacy and the profound impact he had on countless lives.

Sika, alongside his brother Afa, formed the formidable tag team known as the Wild Samoans. The duo debuted in WWE in 1979 under the management of Captain Lou Albano, quickly rising to prominence by capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship. Their success continued in Mid-South Wrestling and secured additional WWE Tag Team Championship reigns upon their return to WWE in 1983.

Now, hours later after Sika’s passing, his son and WWE’s top star, the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns broke his silence on X. Reigns penned a heartfelt message for his father, expressing his gratitude for the foundation built by his father that allowed him and his entire family to rise as top stars, while thanking everyone who poured out the condolences for his father.

“My family and I thank everyone for the outpouring of support in the name of my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’i, who will forever be remembered as one half of The Wild Samoans tag team.  My father had a profound impact on my entire family and we are forever grateful for the foundation he built for us. There’s no way to fill the void left by his passing but my sisters and I will do our best to represent him and his legacy.” 

Sika and his brother, Afa, were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. Sika Anoa’i’s legacy as a wrestling pioneer and mentor remains unparalleled. His contributions to the sport will continue to inspire future generations, ensuring his memory lives on forever.
