Cody Rhodes’ journey to finish the story goes through this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown. However, he is set to meet the man that has been in his head since last year’s WrestleMania, the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.

The son of Dusty Rhodes came very close to dethroning Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title in the main event of WrestleMania 39. However, a timely assist by Roman’s Enforcer, Solo Sikoa derailed those plans, and Cody Rhodes’ story remained unfinished.

But The American Nightmare worked his way up for the entire year and entered the main event picture once again by winning his second Royal Rumble match last week. It was worth noting that Cody pointed straight toward Roman Reigns right after his victory, indicating redemption at this year’s WrestleMania.

Now, just hours before tonight’s SmackDown, WWE announced on their official X account that The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief will come face-to-face with each other as the road to WrestleMania continues to unfold.

“TONIGHT on #SmackDown: @WWERomanReigns and @CodyRhodes come face-to-face… 😤📺 8/7c on @FOXTV.”

With Cody Rhodes’ mind altered regarding his decision to pick which champion to face at the Show of Shows, courtesy of continuous persuasion by World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, it will be interesting to see this intense showdown between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns on SmackDown.

Do you think Cody will pick Reigns as his WrestleMania opponent? or has Seth Rollins’ plan worked? Sound off in the comments!
