INEOS are getting to work behind the scenes to ensure Ruben Amorim feels as confident in his squad as possible for the second half of the campaign.

While that may entail reinforcements in the January window, it also means ensuring influential players are tied to Old Trafford to continue playing vital roles in Amorim’s project.

One of the first names that will spring to mind for any Manchester United fan is Amad Diallo, and not only because he has been one of the side’s most impactful performers every time he’s taken to the pitch.

The Ivorian’s contract is set to expire in June 2025, meaning – as it stands – he is playing his final six months as a United player before potentially leaving for nothing at the end of the campaign. Of course, such a prospect is unthinkable to the club hierarchy, hence why they’ve initiated talks to reward him with a lucrative new deal.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano confirmed this afternoon that the Red Devils are locked in negotiations with Amad to keep him in M16 long-term. It comes after he put in a five-star display in yesterday’s 4-0 thumping of Everton on home soil, during which he notched two assists and completed the most take-ons (four), won the most tackles four) and created the most chances (three) of any of his teammates.

Romano took to X/Twitter to share what he’s heard about Amorim’s ‘unplayable’ starlet, writing: “[I] understand Manchester United made good progress with Amad Diallo’s new contract in recent weeks!

“United are working to get a new long-term deal done before the end of 2024… even before activating club clause to extend current deal until 2026.

“Amad, key for club and Amorim.”

As well as the 22-year-old, Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, Tom Heaton, Christian Eriksen and Harry Maguire are all out of contract at the same time as Amad, though only he and Maguire have one-year options available to activate.
