After a penalty converted by Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of extra time, Al-Nassr was eliminated on penalties by Al-Aïn in the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League on Monday. The five-time Ballon d’Or is expensive.

Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to make Asian football history, but he won’t win the AFC Champions League this season. Al-Nassr was in fact eliminated in the quarter-finals of the continental competition by Al-Aïn on Monday evening. A week after the 1-0 victory for the United Arab Emirates team, Al-Nassr left at the end of an incredible return leg concluded on penalties (3-2, 1 tab to 3).

Trailing 2-0, the Riyadh team turned the situation around: Sadio Mané was the decisive passer (45th + 5), an opposing player scored against his side (51st) and Alex Telles equalized the scores (72nd). In overtime, Al-Aïn (a team made up of little-known players) regained the advantage (103rd) but “CR7” equalized from the penalty spot two minutes from the end (118th). The five-time Ballon d’Or winner converted his shot on goal, which Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles and Otavio did not do!

“Give back your 200 million”

On “There is no excuse for what happened. Our season is over. We bought CR7 to win everything and, in the end, we lost everything. Cristiano Ronaldo must leave, give back your 200 million », it is thus written. Ronaldo would have signed a historic contract worth 500 million euros, over two and a half years, in January 2023.

It is thus recalled that, since the arrival of the former star player of Real Madrid, Al-Nassr has not won any trophy except the Arab Cup of Champion Clubs, a pre-season competition, qualified as “ friendly thing » by the French supporter of Al-Nassr. Beaten by Al-Ittihad last year, Al-Nassr is 12 points behind Al-Hilal, the imposing leader of the Saudi Pro League, eleven days from the end. Ronaldo’s 22 league goals are not enough…
