Cristiano Ronaldo has lifted the veil on his future, announcing that he intends to finish his career in Saudi Arabia. As for the national team, the Portuguese international assures that he is still motivated to defend the colors of his country.
Cristiano Ronaldo knows it well, he is not eternal. While he has been playing for Al-Nassr since January 2023, the Portuguese striker has already set the date of his retirement. In an interview with
Nowthe five-time Ballon d’Or winner revealed that he probably has two or three years left in his career. The former Real Madrid player also confirmed his intention to hang up his boots in Saudi Arabia, with the Riyadh club.
“I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years… but I will probably retire here, in Al-Nassrhe said. I am very happy in this club, I feel good in this country too. I am happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue.”
“I don’t think about becoming a coach”
When it comes time to retire from international football, CR7 plans to do so in a sober manner. “When I leave the national team, I will not tell anyone in advance and it will be a very spontaneous decision on my part, but also a very thoughtful one”he said.
Despite a disappointing Euro 2024, Ronaldo is not considering leaving the Seleção in the immediate future. The Portuguese national team’s all-time top scorer remains focused on the upcoming events, particularly the Nations League.
“For now, what I want is to be able to help the national team in its next matches. We have the Nations League ahead of us and I would really like to play, said the Madeira native. He also clarified that he does not currently see himself in a coaching role. At the moment I am not thinking about becoming a coach of the first team or another team,” he added.
