Ronaldo has praised Jude Bellingham after the England midfielder’s stellar debut at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo gave a lengthy interview to the Mail Online about Los Blancos’ season, highlighting their improvement as a team and discussing the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappé. But he admitted that Bellingham was the most apparent bright spot in the campaign so far.

The former Brazil and Real Madrid player praised Bellingham at length: “ I like the way Jude Bellingham plays. The way he plays in Madrid, scoring goals in almost every match, I love watching him play. He always moves forward. I watched a few games at the Bernabeu stadium and looked for Bellingham. It surprised me a lot with its quality. The speed he runs in the box, you can see he wants to score goals all the time. He reminds me a little of Zinedine Zidane in his quality.”

Madrid spent big on Bellingham last summer, bringing the Englishman to the Santiago Bernabeu for an initial fee of €103 million. So far, he has lived up to the investment, leading the line in Carlo Ancelotti’s unique 4-4-2 diamond setup.

Bellingham is under a two-match suspension in the Spanish Premier League. He received a red card at the end of the La Liga match between Los Blancos and Valencia, after confronting the referee over a controversial decision which denied his team a goal at the last second. He will return to his club on March 31, but is expected to play for England before then.
