Ronda Rousey has been quite critical of WWE since she left the company in 2023, but she has credited Paul Heyman with making a positive impact on her.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Ronda Rousey praised Paul Heyman as someone who encouraged her creatively.
“He’s one of the few people who really encouraged me creatively,” Ronda Rousey said. “He showed me I’m so much more than just what my body can do. That’s how so many people see me–as an athlete, as a fighter. It’s all about performing, being on camera, focusing on what I can do physically–but it was different with Paul.”
“It was Paul Heyman who said, ‘What do you want your movie to be?’” Rousey continued. Paul produced my segments during the second half of my first year in WWE, and he really worked with me on being able to write my own promos and deliver them.”
Regarding her writing career, Rousey also said that Heyman encouraged her to create outside of herself, and he was a mentor to her.
Rousey is set to adapt her memoirs for a Netflix movie. More information is available here.
