EXCLUSIVE: The first big-screen adaptation of popular Aussie author Anh Do’s work is on the way through a new partnership between Rose Byrne’s production company Dollhouse Pictures and Foundation Media Partners.

The two companies have teamed to adapt Do’s novel Wolf Girl. Rose Byrne will produce the movie with her Dollhouse Pictures partners. Foundation Media Partners CEO Patrick Hughes and Foundation COO Russell will produce for Foundation. Casting will be announced in the coming months.

The Wolf Girl books are a series written by Do and published in Australia by Allen & Unwin. The author is currently on the eighth book in the series. The books have sold over one million copies in Australia. The story follows Gwen, a young girl who gets separated from her family and must learn to survive accompanied by a new-found family of canines. The books are described as a “gripping tale of survival, nature, friendship, and courage.” HarperCollins Children’s Books division will bring The Wolf Girl books to the U.S. market in March 2025.

“Anh Do’s storytelling is so compelling. It’s impossible not to get swept into the adventurous world of Gwen and her faithful canine friends,” Byrne said in a statement this morning. “Themes of courage, resilience, and friendship emerge across an epic landscape- these are wonderful aspirational characters who create a formidable family bond. I couldn’t be more excited to champion Wolf Girl’s transition to screen with my partners at Dollhouse, Foundation Media, and HarperCollins”

Do added “The Wolf Girl book series has brought joy to millions of children around the world. This film adaptation will bring happiness to millions more. I’m absolutely delighted that the powerhouse Foundation Media and Dollhouse Pictures are teaming up with me to make this happen.”
