Former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez appeared in the crowd on the January 17th episode of WWE SmackDown.
In the main event of the January 17th episode of WWE SmackDown, Bayley challenged Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. Roxanne Perez was shown in the crowd, and Bayley argued with her during the bout.
Bayley said that she was a “big-time player” before she returned to the match. Stratton went on to beat Bayley to retain the title.
Perez and Bayley previously crossed paths on the January 14th episode of WWE NXT. Bayley interrupted Perez, and they went back and forth on the microphone. They then brawled at the end of the show.
Booker T On Roxanne Perez
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T trained Perez, and he has watched her grow into the star that she is today. On a recent episode of his Hall of Fame Podcast, Booker T commented on Perez potentially moving to the WWE main roster. He stated that he just wanted her to be ready.
“I’m not going to say it’s time for the main roster, and I’m not going to say it’s not time. You know, the time is going to be when she goes there — that’s the way I look at it.” Booker T said. “Just because I don’t want to put any pressure on Roxanne Perez, I tell all of them, when they go from NXT to the main roster, it’s just different. You’re going to be working — it’s a total, total difference between what you did on NXT and what you’ll be doing on the main roster from a global travel perspective on a regular basis. You’ve got to be ready for that.”
“So, for her, I just want her to be ready. Do I think she’s ready right now? Yeah, I think she’s ready. But I wouldn’t necessarily say, “Man, let’s pull the trigger on it right now.” Then again, I wouldn’t hesitate if I had something for her. I think when she does get to the main roster, she’s going to shock and amaze because she works so much bigger than she actually is. She rises to the level of her opponent. I just can’t wait to see it when it happens.”
