Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham on penalties at Old Trafford.
The visitors took the lead against Ruben Amorim’s side through Calvin Bassey but his goal was canceled out in the second half by Bruno Fernandes.
However, the match went to penalties and Marco Silva’s Fulham side came out as winners after Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee saw their penalties get saved by goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Following the exit from the FA Cup, Amorim said that the goal of his team is to win the Premier League title.
Hearing such comments from the Man United boss, Wayne Rooney, who was doing punditry duty for the BBC, called Amorim “naive”.
The Man United boss then hit back at Rooney, who is the all time top goal scorer in the history of the club, by saying that it is easy to be a pundit and talk like that from the studio.
“[The Premier League] is the goal,” said Amorim, as reported by ESPN.
“Being naive is to think we are going to do it this season or be the best contender next season. So I know that in this moment everybody knows everything. I know that and it’s really easy — I was a pundit when I finished my career. I know it’s really easy.

“Our goal is to win the Premier League. Maybe it is not with me. But our goal, as a club, the board, is to win the Premier League like we did in the past with all the great glories and legends of this club and we will want to do better and we are in a difficult moment. And I’m not naive, that’s why I’m here, at 40-years-old, coaching Manchester United.”
Man United have no option but to win the Europa League
Man United just have the Europa League to play for this season. They have been knocked out of the FA Cup and their league position is embarrassing.
They are currently 14th in the league and the only way to salvage their season is by winning the Europa League.
They face Real Sociedad on Thursday and Amorim will be hoping for a better performance from his team.
With Amorim’s life getting difficult at Old Trafford every week, the Red Devils are considering Aston Villa manager Unai Emery as a potential replacement.
