Speculation is constant as Manchester United search for a new manager and Ruben Amorim looks set to be that man.
That has not stopped Amorim from arriving at Sporting Lisbon’s headquarters to take training as normal, while talks continue over his potential move to Manchester United, as per the Daily Mail.
It looks like a deal is in the pipeline while the two clubs negotiate a way to waive a 30-day notice period in his contract. United may end up paying more than the €10m termination clause as a result.
The report states that several sporting players have expressed their frustrations with Amorim as the 39-year-old prepares to leave the Portuguese champions just nine matches into the new season.
Sporting are still unbeaten which is why Amorim received such a warm reception from their supporters in what may be his final game last night. They beat Nacional 3-1 in the equivalent of the League Cup and he faced a series of questions post-match over his potential departure to become United boss following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

Sporting have already released a statement confirming United’s interest and willingness to pay Amorim’s €10 termination clause. It will cost extra to waive her notice period which is what has delayed talks up until now.
“Manchester United is interested, but it’s my choice,” he said. “Until everything is decided, we won’t be making any noise. I have nothing useful to say. I will take on whatever I want to do, as I have always done.
“I don’t want to fuel this issue. There is the club’s statement to the CMVM, apart from that we don’t know the details yet, we’ll see.
“I have always taken responsibility for my decisions and I will be here to do so, but when I am sure of things it will be easier.”
