A new report provides an update on Drew McIntyre’s contract status after fans started buzzing about a rumor that he had re-signed.
As previously reported, former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s contract is set to expire following WrestleMania 40. His deal was initially up sooner, but the company added some time to it after McIntyre was out of action for a chunk of 2023.
Despite his uncertain future, Drew McIntyre has been prominently featured on the road to WrestleMania 40. He won the Men’s Elimination Chamber match to earn a world title match at the show.
On February 27, Alex McCarthy took to Twitter to respond to a post that cited BWE’s report that McIntyre had re-signed with WWE. McCarthy stated that was not the case.
McCarthy then reported the news for Mail Sport. He cited sources who noted that negotiations were not close to being finalized, but they were ongoing. McCarthy reiterated that no new agreement has been reached.
As previously reported, one clash in the talks between the two sides was in now McIntyre would be used. McIntyre has drawn a lot of praise for his current run, and McCarthy noted that he is “much happier with his creative.”
