The “Taste” singer hit back at those criticizing the lingerie-inspired outfits she performs in onstage while speaking to Time magazine for a cover story published Wednesday.

Carpenter called backlash from “the occasional mother that has a strong opinion on how you should be dressing” an “unfortunate” scenario.

She explained, “Truthfully, the scariest thing in the world is getting up on a stage in front of that many people and having to perform as if it’s nothing.

“If the one thing that helps you do that is the way you feel comfortable dressing, then that’s what you’ve got to do,” she continued.

With the help of her stylist, Jared Ellner, Carpenter’s been showing off an array of custom looks from Victoria’s Secret onstage, each adorned with over 150,000 crystals placed by hand.

The ensembles took more than 140 hours apiece to complete, according to the brand.

Carpenter also rocked a vintage Victoria’s Secret corset, briefs and bow-tied train for her Time cover — an outfit first modeled on the runway by Naomi Campbell in 1997.

The Broadway star called femininity something that she has “always embraced” with her style selections.

“If right now that means corsets and garter belts and fuzzy robes or whatever the f—k, then that’s what that means,” she said.

Carpenter’s international tour is scheduled to end in March 2025.
