Sabu contemplates the possibility of WWE inducting him into their Hall of Fame.
Earlier this month, WWE officially inducted Paul Heyman into the 2024 Hall of Fame class. Heyman, of course, is known for taking on various roles in the wrestling industry, including his run as the head booker of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
With Heyman now formally welcomed into these hallowed halls, many fans have wondered if even more ECW alumni will follow suit.
During a recent interview with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewCo, former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Sabu addressed the possibility of him joining the WWE Hall of Fame one day.
“I think probably, eventually,” Sabu said. “A true artist isn’t recognized until he is dead like Rembrandt, those guys. Nobody gave a f*ck when they were alive. When they died, they came through. So I’ll probably get in there when I’m dead. I’m trying to get there. A true artist isn’t recognized until they’re gone, till you miss what they’re doing. ‘Damn, he was truly good. Now we can’t see him no more. Now, he’s the best.'”
Outside of his two ECW World Heavyweight Championship reigns, Sabu also boasted three reigns as ECW Tag Team Champion, and one reign with the FTW and ECW World Television Championships, respectively. Six years after departing from ECW, Sabu inked a one-year contract with WWE. There, he notably aligned with fellow ECW originals RVD, Tommy Dreamer, and The Sandman.
