With his contract at Liverpool due to expire next June, Egyptian Mohamed Salah has been invited to re-sign and continue his adventure on the banks of the Mersey.

Former Liverpool star John Aldridge has urged Mohamed Salah to resist a move to Saudi Arabia next year.

At the end of his contract, Salah has publicly stated that he could leave Liverpool next summer. Aldridge wrote for the Liverpool Echo: “We’re talking about these contracts expiring virtually every week at the moment. The club needs to sort that out. The worst case scenario is that we’d have to start next season without all three of them – Van Dijk, Salah, Trent. That’s a possibility that could really hurt Liverpool. It could hurt us, it could waste time and all that at the same time. We just hope it doesn’t happen like that.”

“Salah must not leave while he is at the top of his game”

“Salah, we don’t know what’s going on. We’ve always said that if a player wants to leave, the club is bigger. He’s bigger than anyone. The club comes first. So if you want to leave, leave.”continued the Irishman.

“But when you have a happy camp, we’ve started the season and everything is going really well, why would you want to leave? Why would you want to leave when you’re still at the top of your game?”

“Look at Sadio Mane now, since he went to Saudi Arabia. Look at Firmino. You can’t keep yourself at the top of your game. Obviously you’re going there as a mercenary. For Mo, later in his career, then yes, go for it. Why not? But later in your career, when you’re not at the top of your game.”
