Scorer in Liverpool-Brentford (2-0) on Sunday in the Premier League, Mohamed Salah is now involved in as many goals as matches played at Anfield with the Reds!

A week after a 2-0 win at Ipswich in the Premier League opener, Liverpool kicked off their season at Anfield with a 2-0 win over Brentford on Sunday afternoon. Arne Slot, Jürgen Klopp’s Dutch successor, is also the first LFC manager to win his first two league games (since moving to the Premier League in 1992).

The Liverpuldians found the fault at the start of the match through Luis Diaz, well launched by Diogo Jota on a lightning counter (13th). The locals were unable to protect themselves thereafter against Yoane Wissa and his ilk. Ibrahima Konaté was lined up from the start this time at the expense of Jarell Quansah.

Salah all round

It was finally the essential Mohamed Salah, already a scorer during the opening weekend, who doubled the lead 20 minutes from the end, well served by Luis Diaz (70th). Salah has a particularly symbolic record since this Sunday since he has been involved in 128 goals (93 goals and 35 assists) in 128 matches at Anfield.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott came on for Liverpool, who will play the “Derby of England” next weekend against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
