A resident of Serie A since last season, AC Monza will remain in the Italian elite for the second consecutive year with the added bonus of an honorable 12th place. And for the third season of the sporting project launched by the Berlusconi-Galliani duo in September 2018, the Lombard club could well experience a complete facelift on all levels. From ownership to management to coach, Monza is set to undergo a makeover in the coming weeks, including a change of tactician and a possible new owner at the helm of the club. In fact, one of the few elements who should remain in his position next year is none other than the French sporting director, François Modesto, who has refused certain offers in recent weeks to stay one more season at Monza.

Raffaele Palladino will leave the club

A great architect of maintaining Serie A last season after taking over the reins of the club following the rapid dismissal of Giovanni Stroppa, Raffaele Palladino is one of the young Italian coaches with growing popularity on the tactician market in Europe. At the end of his contract with Monza, the young 40-year-old technician will not extend his contract with the Lombard club. According to our information, the native of Mugnano di Napoli will pack up at the end of the season and several clubs including Fiorentina and Torino have positioned themselves on him. There have also been recent successes abroad, notably in Portugal with Benfica. Raffaele Palladino has already hinted that he will announce his departure in the coming days: “There is nothing more I could not do, I feel like I gave everything for this team and wrote pages of history for this club with my staff. We will talk about it at the end of the championship but Galliani knows that I am ambitious”.

And according to our indiscretions, the management of Monza anticipated the departure of Raffaele Palladino and thus ticked off the names of a few coaches including Alessio Dionisi who is today in pole position to take the reins of the Lombard club. The former Sassuolo coach even met with Monzesi leaders last week. Former AC Milan player during the Berlusconi/Galliani era, Alessandro Nesta is also another trusted profile checked by management in order to develop the sporting project. Just like Davide Ancelotti, son of Carlo and assistant at Real Madrid, who could well be tempted by a solo adventure. The identity of the new coach should be known within 15 days. In any case, Raffaele Palladino will leave Monza and take on a new challenge in Italy or abroad. But the summer also promises to be eventful in the offices of the Lombard club.

Negotiations for a sale of the club

However, one case has been standing still for several months. Numerous rumors of the sale of the club invade the environment of the Lombard club. As we revealed to you last June, several investors contacted the Monza property for a possible buyout. With the death of Silvio Berlusconi, the future of the Monza club has been put on hold throughout the season. The financial structure of Fininvest, led by the Berlusconi family, had initiated preliminary contacts with potential investors from Saudi Arabia and the United States. Other interests from China and India had also gained momentum. Although everything remained on standby for a long time, dialogues resumed a few months ago. According to our information, negotiations are very advanced with the Italian financial company specializing in investments in SMEs and SMIs, Orienta Capital Partners.

The discussions are very positive and could well be concluded in the coming weeks, even if a full agreement has not yet been reached between all parties. Some candidates continue to make eyes at Adriano Galliani and the Berlusconi Family. This is particularly the case of Evangelos Marinakis, politician, president of Olympiakos in Greece and owner of Nottingham Forest in England, who had even met Silvio Berlusconi in the Italian town of Arcore, shortly before the death of the Cavaliere on the 12 June 2023. The Red Bull group, which had expressed an interest in the Brianza club some time ago, has nevertheless not yet officially relaunched negotiations after an initial failure. In the event of a sale, Adriano Galliani should nevertheless stay for at least one season to ensure a smooth transition, with a trusted reference point for sporting operations.
