Real Madrid centre-back, Antonio Rudiger, is full of praise for Arsenal’s defender William Saliba, hinting that the French player will be a great addition to Real Madrid.
While featuring in an interview with the InsideScoopHQ in a tweet Friday by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rudiger noted that due to many fixtures lying in wait for the Spanish giants, it would be better for the defenders to rotate, including fellow defender, Eder Militao.
When he was asked to name which defender he would love to sign for the 15-time Champions League winners, the German international responded, “I say William Saliba. I am very happy Militao! [sic]. But there’s so many games, so we would rotate, so to have Saliba… it would be great.”
He added that Saliba, alongside his defending partner, Gabriel, is the “pillar of transformation” in Arsenal.
He described Saliba as a “silent leader,” saying, “If you see Arsenal, the two centre backs are the pillar of the transformation. You have with Gabriel the aggressive leader and Saliba… this brother plays clean! You have to give it to him, he looks like a silent leader.”
Rudiger, a charismatic, versatile defender who can be deployed to play on either flank, is noted for his rather aggressive tackling of opponents. He, alongside Saliba, was recently included in the top 30 nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
When asked about the best player he ever shared the dressing room, he opted for 2022 Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema.
“Karim Benzema! I could say Modric, Kroos, Hazard… but I’ve to go with Karim.”
On his top three centre-backs in world football, Rudiger said, excluding himself, “I won’t do in order. Saliba, Van Dijk and Gabriel is pushing.” [sic]
