Samoa Joe returned at AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage.
On the January 15th episode of AEW Dynamite, HOOK and Christian Cage clashed in a singles match. They had been feuding for months, and HOOK finally got his hands on Cage in a singles bout. However, Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne of The Patriarchy ultimately attacked HOOK to force the disqualification.
After the bell, The Patriarchy attacked HOOK, but Samoa Joe made the save and sent The Patriarchy running.
Samoa Joe, a former AEW World Champion, had been absent since the July 10th episode of AEW Dynamite, where Chris Jericho drove him through a wall on a forklift. AEW then announced that Joe would be out of action indefinitely. During his time away, Joe was filming the second season of the Peacock series Twisted Metal, in which he plays Sweet Tooth.
