Sanwo-Olu lauds Tunde Bakare’s legacy of faith, activism at 70

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated the Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on his 70th birthday.

In a  Monday statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu described Bakare as a “faithful servant of God, transformative leader, and tireless advocate for good governance.”

Sanwo-Olu celebrated Bakare’s enduring impact, highlighting his journey as a steadfast preacher and vocal agent of change, whose work has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s religious and political landscape.

Known for his courage in speaking truth to power, Bakare has not only guided his congregation but has also become a respected figure in Nigerian civil society, advocating for accountability and reform among the country’s leaders, the statement noted.

“Pastor Bakare is an emblem of integrity, unwavering dedication, and selfless service,” Sanwo-Olu said, praising the cleric’s lifetime work as both an activist and a public figure.

He lauded Bakare’s influence in promoting democracy, transparency, and justice in Nigeria, qualities that have made him a powerful voice for both the church and the nation.
