The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is slated to receive the highest honour, at this year’s Almond Insurance Industry Awards and Consumers’ Nite.
A statement from the organisers of the award on Friday, signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Almond Productions Limited, Ms Faith Ughwode, said Lagos State had over the years blazed the trail in terms of supporting the insurance and pensions industry through annual budgetary allocations for the payment of premiums and pensions.
“It takes a visionary leader to continue and improve on existing systems. Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu embodies vision and progress and we are glad to have him shine at the Awards this year,” it stated. Ughwode said in the statement.
Also to receive the special recognition award at the event scheduled for November 1 in Lagos is the 85-year-old, Mrs Modupeola Dallass–Olusanya (aka Mama Gombot), who is still very active in mentoring young insurance professionals.
The 2024 Awards tagged #Reinvent Edition will see winners emerge in 10 categories, including Life Insurance Company of the Year, General Insurance Company of the Year, Insurance CEO of the Year, Insurance Broker of the Year and Insurance Broking Company of the Year.

The awards were instituted in 2018 to reward the changemakers, innovators and thought leaders in the country’s insurance sector.
