Sao Paulo president Julio Casares has addressed speculation regarding a transfer involving Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

It promises to be a busy summer for United with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Sports group targeting a number of player sales.

One player likely to leave at the end of the season is Brazil midfielder Casemiro.

The former Real Madrid star has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, where former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing his football. Another possible destination is his homeland of Brazil.

After coming through the Sao Paulo academy, Casemiro has been linked with a return to the Brazilian club.

However, Sao Paulo president Julio Casares has been asked about the possibility of a move for Casemiro and stated that there was “nothing” in the rumours due to the financial implications such a deal would cause.

“In Casemiro’s case, there is nothing,” Casares told Metropoles. “He’s a great player who was trained here, an extraordinary guy, a leader, a good player, but there’s nothing.

“It’s clear that Casemiro is a great player, but there’s absolutely nothing there. Sao Paulo also has a rigour of the size of the investments we make.

“Of course, we will always look at possibilities in situations, but within a financial responsibility and budget. For now, the answer is no. There are no talks.”

Casemiro is available for tonight’s FA Cup encounter against Nottingham Forest. The Reds will be looking to book their place in the quarter-finals, and I’m sure the Casemiro wants another trophy before he leaves the club.

Let us know in the comments section if you would sell Casemiro in the summer.
