Sarah Michelle Gellar Called a 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Co-Star About 'Dexter' Role

Sarah Michelle Gellar has her Buffy the Vampire Slayer family in mind.

The 47-year-old actress called Julie Benz, who starred in the original Dexter series for five seasons, about taking on a role in Dexter: Original Sin.

During a conversation with People, Sarah, who plays Tanya Martin in the prequel series, talked about calling up her co-star, who played Darla in Buffy.

“We talked about it a lot,” she said. “She was Dexter’s girlfriend. She was Rita and she was the mother of Harrison – Dexter’s child.”

“She’s very excited about it,” Sarah continued.

Julie played Darla on Buffy in the first, second and fifth seasons, and also starred in its spin-off, Angel, until 2004, before being cast on Dexter two years later.

As for the future of Buffy, Sarah recently suggested that she might be open to doing something.
