Sarah Michelle Gellar shared her support for longtime pal Shannen Doherty after the “Charmed” alum spoke out about her feud with former co-star Alyssa Milano.
“It was a difficult time,” the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum told E! News in a new interview published Sunday.
Doherty recently reignited her feud with her former “Charmed” co-star Alyssa Milano, and Gellar came to her defense. Getty Images“I was there for it. I think Shannen’s just about sharing her truths in general right now.”
“What’s amazing about her is, flaws and all, she’s showing it all,” the 46-year-old fellow WB alum continued. “I will support her. I know it wasn’t the easiest time, but she’s a different person now.”
The “Cruel Intentions” star went on to add that she’s very proud of Doherty, who is battling stage 4 breast cancer that recently spread to her brain.

“Our relationship has grown because we’ve grown. We’ve had experiences and life is complicated. And we’ve been able to experience it together, so then you grow together.”
Gellar’s comments come after Doherty’s former “Charmed” co-star Holly Marie Combs claimed that Milano gave producers of their show an ultimatum to get the “Heathers” star fired from the witchy drama series.
Immediately after the claim was made on Doherty’s podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” Milano denied being involved in her former co-star’s firing.

Once Shannen left we had 5 more successful seasons and I am forever grateful,” the “Who’s The Boss?” alum wrote in part in a lengthy Instagram post on Feb. 3.
After Milano made her rebuttal, Combs went on Instagram to say she was disappointed.

But let’s go with that and let me explain what she did have the power to do. She had the power the stop the process at any time,” Combs wrote.
Milano, however, denied having any involvement in Doherty’s exit from the WB series. Warner Bros.Combs, 50, claimed “there was a case being built” against Doherty, 52, behind the scenes of the WB show, and Milano, 51, “alone had the power to stop” the firing.
“And when the producers said ok we will let Shannen go Alyssa also had the power to say no I don’t want that. But she did not. She had the power to say no just as Shannen had said no I don’t want you to replace Alyssa when posed with the same option,” the “Pretty Little Liars” alum claimed.
Rose McGowan eventually took over for Doherty after the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum exited “Charmed” following Season 3. And while many years have passed since then, there’s still a lot of unresolved feelings.
Fortunately, Doherty has Gellar in her corner.
