Suits star Sarah Rafferty would love for her former co-star, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, to join the show’s rewatch podcast, which she co-hosts with Patrick J. Adams.
“Everybody’s invited, and everybody has been so supportive,” Rafferty told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview when asked if Markle would be asked to appear as a guest on SiriusXM‘s Sidebar.
She continued, “It’s amazing. I’ve just been texting one of our directors, Mike Smith. Rachael Harris had some comments on our Instagram Live this morning — cannot wait for Sheila Sazs to be introduced into the show. I can’t wait to talk to Max Beesley [who portrayed Stephen Huntley] and all the British actors that we had.”
Only a few episodes in since its launch at the end of September, Deadline first broke the news of the rewatch podcast, which came to fruition following an unexpected resurgence in viewership of the USA Network show that lasted nine seasons. The legal drama broke streaming records during the dual Hollywood strikes when it was licensed to Netflix, and a new spinoff series, Suits L.A., from creator Aaron Korsh has nabbed a series order from NBC.
“We were on strike when we had that resurgence, and it was like, ‘What does this mean?’ You can’t really get your head around it,” Rafferty said. “Which is sort of one of the reasons why we followed through on the idea of a podcast, because it’s an opportunity to kind of make meaning of what the show has meant to everybody involved and the viewers.”
Sidebar joins a bevy of rewatch podcasts currently on the market, including ones for series like The Office, Veep, Curb Your Enthusiasm and others.
Suits follows the ins-and-outs of a prestigious Manhattan law firm through the budding mentor-mentee relationship of big-shot attorney Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and young upstart Mike Ross (Adams), who cons his way in with his photographic memory and sheer audacity.
