Saraya shares key advice she heard from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Last week, Saraya celebrated the release of her first memoir, titled Hell in Boots: Clawing My Way Through Nine Lives,” which details the ups and downs of her life as a professional wrestler. One of the key events covered is the making of Fighting with My Family, a biographical film depicting Saraya’s journey to WWE (as Paige) and her upbringing in a household of wrestlers.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson served as a producer and actor in the film. According to Saraya, he also provided her with some valuable advice at one point.

“This is what Dwayne told me. He said, ‘Stay humble and hungry,'” Saraya recalled on The Mental Game Podcast. “You want to be humble because you want be people to be able to work with you. Of course, stay f***ing humble and then hungry. You don’t want to get complacent because then you’re doing this and then that instead of going [up].”

When asked about advice she’d specifically give to up-and-coming pro wrestlers, Saraya foremost noted the importance of being genuine.

“When it comes to wrestling, be yourself 100% because I tried to come into WWE not being myself and it didn’t get me anywhere,” she said. ‘Being myself wholeheartedly authentically got me as far as I am right now and it’s wonderful.”

Additionally, Saraya implored talents to be smart about their spending. “Save your money,” she said, “because you’re going to get very excited. It’s going to burn a hole in your pocket, but you just have to know you have to save and be patient because it doesn’t come overnight.”
