Some of Mathys Tel’s suitors are now convinced the Bayern Munich forward will join Tottenham or Aston Villa this month despite interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Tel, 19, is expected to leave Bayern in the final days of the January transfer window having started just four matches all season.

There is no shortage of potential destinations with a host of Premier League sides registering their interest.

Spurs currently lead the pack having verbally agreed a deal with Bayern Munich on Thursday night. The Londoners are prepared to pay a £50million fee to bring the France Under-21 international to the club.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been devastated by injury this season with Tottenham well placed to guarantee Tel the gametime he craves.

The forward has not yet decided whether he wants to join Tottenham this month. But their desire to get the deal done has seen clubs from Saudi Arabia walk away from talks.

Al-Ahli were interested in signing the teenage star but according to Sky Germany, they have ended their pursuit with the Saudi side expecting Tel to join Spurs or Villa.

Spurs have stepped up their efforts in recent hours with Fabrizio Romano reporting chairman Daniel Levy has arrived in Munich for face-to-face talks with Tel and his agent.

Villa meanwhile are flush with cash after agreeing to sell Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr for £64million. Ollie Watkins’ future has also come under intense scrutiny following interest from Arsenal but Unai Emery is adamant the England international is going nowhere this month.

In any case, Villa may feel reinforcements up top are required following Duran’s departure with Tel one option they are interested in.

United meanwhile have also made enquiries and are keen to sign the Bayern star on loan. Ruben Amorim’s side have held talks with the player’s representatives but there would need to be further outgoings at Old Trafford first.

Marcus Rashford has been made available while Chelsea and Napoli are interested in Alejandro Garnacho.

Chelsea are also among the sides keen on Tel but reports this week have suggested he is not sold on a move to Stamford Bridge where competition for starts in attacking positions will be intense.

Arsenal are yet to make their move but are in real need of more firepower for the second-half of the season.
