Hello, and welcome to the Scene 2 Seen Podcast!

I am Valerie Complex, an associate editor and film writer at Deadline. Today I’m chatting with Katy O’ Brian, a talented actress who is quickly establishing herself as one to watch. Currently, she stars alongside Kristen Stewart in the latest Rose Glass’ film Love Lies Bleeding.

Love Lies Bleeding follows Jackie (O’Brian), an aspiring bodybuilder as she moves to rural Nevada and falls in love with an employee at her new local gym, Lou (Kristen Stewart), and is introduced to the chaotic and damaging world of steroids, murder and obsession. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim and was released in theaters on March 15th.

Later this year, Katy will star in Universal’s highly anticipated feature Twisters opposite Daisy Edgar Jones and Glen Powell. The film is a sequel to the cult classic 1996 film Twister,  and will be released theatrically on July 19th.

In 2023, Katy co-starred as ‘Elia Kane’ opposite Pedro Pascal in Disney+’s The Mandalorian. Katy has spent the last two seasons as the Comms Officer quietly in cahoots with Giancarlo Esposito’s ‘Moff Gideon’ as she takes steps to infiltrate the New Republic.

Additionally, Katy made her Marvel debut as the Freedom Fighter ‘Jentorra’ opposite Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film, released in February, grossed close to half a billion at the box office worldwide.O’Brian previously appeared in The Rookie, Magnum P.I., Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Westworld,  and Black Lightning. She landed her first TV role on AMC’s, The Walking Dead, before landing her first series regular role on the Syfy zombie apocalypse series, Z Nation.

In this episode, O’Brian discusses what it was like working with Kristen Steward and Rose Glass on Love Lies Bleeding, finding film and television roles that challenge her, and the power of manifestation.
