Scott Foley (Scandal) has joined the cast of ABC‘s hit series Will Trent in a recurring role. Season 3 of Will Trent premieres January 7, at 8 pm on ABC and will stream the next day on Hulu.

Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling “Will Trent” series, Special Agent Will Trent (Ramon Rodriguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Now, he uses his unique point of view in the pursuit of justice and has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

In August, Deadline revealed exclusively the addition of Gina Rodriguez as Marion Alba, a charismatic, confident Assistant District Attorney new to Atlanta. After her first encounter with Will falls flat, the pair is surprised to learn that they must work together to investigate a crime in the world of Atlanta gangs. She is a potential love interest for Will, who was in a super long on/off relationship with Angie (Erika Christensen).

Things are heating up further with Foley’s addition to the series as Dr. Seth McDale, the confident and down-to-earth head of emergency medicine at a local hospital and Angie’s new romantic interest.

As King Floyd says in “Groove Me,” Aw sookie sookie now!

The series also stars Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Karin Slaughter, Oly Obst, Howard Deutch, Ellen Marie Blum and Ramón Rodriguez executive produce Will Trent. Heldens and Thomsen also serve as co-showrunners on the series produced by 20th Television.

Foley is repped by Independent Artist Group, Atlas Artists, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
